The Lord hears my cry; he attends to my heart's desires.
I have a ride to Kansas City!! I had already decided to make a go of it, bussing 20 hours down, and catching a ride up with someone from Brandon. Then, yesterday this beautiful person calls me and tells me she has, out of the goodness of Christ's love in her, found a ride for me!! This ride is with two other equally wonderful people, whom I will call today to confirm details. Wow. I thought it was already working out nicely, but this is an added blessing. Great company, shorter ride down, and much better timing!!! Thank you Jesus!

what a night
the emotions of a night can be many and diverse. tonight was such a night. from the opening awkward moments of 40-50 people sitting in a room, to hearing them belt out songs like "livin' on a prayer" and "the rose"....and getting so tired that we laughed about everything and broke many things. or i should say derek broke many things. including the love-heart candelabra that chris got in the gift exchange. i, the "curb-side prophet with my hand in my pocket" received a rocket. my contribution to the recycled gift exchange was the 'shall we dance' dvd, which shaun got. it made me feel special because he kept my homemade wrapping paper all pretty and nice - he liked my drawing!! it consisted of strings of lights. not faulty blue christmas lights, but just normal ones. those are too hard to draw.
other thoughts of the evening: john and michelle are leaving, i'm going to miss them! a table of girls, both young and "experienced" talked about boys and boy things and expectations and vulnerability. always interesting and eye-opening and challenging. i met some really awesome people, but didn't get all their names - bummer. we had a pinata, that was fun. i'm rambling now. no DDR tonight, but oh the karaoke and off-key singing. i may not have a voice on the morrow. but i got a rocket, and i like it. jen and i are enjoying tea to make us sleep...funny, i guess we should actually get into our beds to do that. i have no sheets on my bed. i should put them on. jen says this must be an intense post, it's so long. but it's not. i'm just tired and overall, happy. i have a nice rocket. good night.

if it's your will, Jesus
as some of you know, i am planning/dreaming/hoping to go to the international house of prayer in kansas city for their One Thing conference on december 27-31. my amazing friend tarah resides there, and we have been attempting to find a way to get me there. as of yet, i do not have a ride, but i am registered for the conference.
so please. if anyone knows of anyone else who is going there, or any way i could get a ride or be connected with transportation, please let me know. you can e-mail me if you know me, or leave a comment. i'm just trying to get it out there so there i don't miss any chances.
thanks.

the passion of aslan
(inspired by steve k)
for anyone who has not watched or read the chronicles of narnia, leave now if you do not want it spoiled for you. as we were watching this movie in the theatre, i could hear jen sniffling beside me. at first i thought, "i didn't think this movie would make me cry". but as lucy and susan walked with aslan through the night, and then he went on alone....i began to understand. even though this is a disney movie, and not even rated pg-13, the following scenes wre intense. i couldn't help drawing the parallel with the Passion of the Christ. the gore cannot even be compared, because in the chronicles, you see no blood, nothing - but the intensity of the sacrifice is far different. there is not an overwhelming shock factor at the blood or the pain. instead, there is emotional pain watching aslan die. he sacrifices himself to mockery, torture and death, all for brat-faced edmund. me. this beautiful, majestic, intense leader is shaved and defenseless, by choice, for me. rejected so that i may be accepted.
people say life is all about relationships. i would agree. that's why the isolation of Jesus dying on the cross was such agony for him, for God. that's why we live in agony until we realize the unfair reconciliation we are offered. sometimes i don't like to use fancy church words like reconciliation, but when we stop and think of the depth of the act, there is no other description for the huge grace God gives us to be able to be in relationship with him. the story of aslan depicts this intense and one-of-a-kind relationship perfectly. as garret said, "i just wanted to stand up and yell at everyone in the theatre, 'that's Jesus! he loves you that much!!'" the most beautiful thing about this story? aslan returns and wins. the death is not significant or victorious until he comes back. and he does! Jesus is alive, and we are made alive with him, through his death!! how crazy is that.
the chronicles of narnia is the passion of christ. his passion is you - relationship with you. love - for you.

what to say
Jesus, thank you for getting me through today. last night was freak-out session extraordinaire at our apartment. 7 in the evening, and i decided it was a good time to check my exam times for the next day (today). would you believe i had a conflict??? both my exams were at 1:30 today!!! so i freaked right out. thankfully, one of them is a televised course, and those not in the studio were writing theirs tonight at 7. thank the Lord that worked out. so i just got back, and i have only one more exam to go, on monday!! i have no idea how i did on today's exams, but hey. they are finished!!
now for a real winter, when i can go skating, play hockey, go toboganning, feel the wind biting my cheeks and cozy up with a book in our living room or by the woodstove. i love home at christmas time.

i love you
Dear Lord,
My desire is to wake up with praises on my lips.
My desire is to be overwhelmed by your creation.
My desire is to pray consistently for the ones I love.
My desire is to talk with you as if you were always by my side.
My desire is to have my heart be full joy & thankfulness for your mercy and grace.
My desire is to cherish this brief time on earth I have with my friends and family.
My desire is to be only satisfied with you alone.
My desire is to convey the passion I feel in my soul through my actions.
My desire is to go to sleep whispering your name.

top 2%
i apparently have an abnormal mind. i just got one of those e-mails that gets you to answer a bunch of questions, then think of a color and a tool.
98% of people think of a red hammer. not me.
green screwdriver.
praise God for my unique mind!
(now let's hope these stats prove true for my exams - top 2%!!!)

'tis the season
this is the season for you and me.Jesus
christmas time is always my time for relationships. dreaming of them and also enjoying the ones i have. when we had our first snow of the season, i was dancing around at the bus stop (most likely to the bemusement of those in the shelter), enjoying the beautiful snowfall, and i had 'that' thought again: "i wish i had..." [fill in the blank] ;)
something about snow and christmas makes me sentimental. watching pride and prejudice thursday didn't help. but back to the first day of snow. i always want to be in love for winter - sparkling snow, bright lights, rosy cheeks. then my invitation came. Jesus whispered "this season is for you and me. i'm in love with you! let's enjoy this season together, you and i."
this is me saying "YES!"
